Why Big Corporations Are Hiring Your Kids

Kids Have Something The Big Corps Want. . .
Here’s The Latest Marketing Trend…
At a recent gathering of professional speakers, a small group of us shared what our next steps could be in building a greater business presence. I mentioned blogs. You could have heard a pin drop. Then the words YouTube came out. The whole box of pins hit the floor! The bang could be heard across the room.
“Not me! That’s kids stuff.”
“Me neither. Don’t know what all the fuss is about. Besides, just another gimmick.”
That’s the type of feedback these credible and successful entrepreneurs gave about internet fashions. Fads is probably the better word.
However, the truth is even the huge corporations like Sony, Ford, Coke and Proctor & Gamble are changing their traditional advertising channels and getting into blogs and YouTube. When was the last time you checked blog and YouTube information? Never? There’s a link at the end of this article for your viewing pleasure.
Why are the big corps hiring the youth?
They’re hiring the young punks with creative, fearless savvy to demonstrate some unusual ads. The surprise… and it shouldn’t be a surprise is this.
The focus is on content. Interesting content. And blogs are content rich and changing and well… working!
Blogs And YouTubes Are Bringing In More Business Than Imagined
Yes, Blogs – it seems that this is the latest communication technique that web business-minded entrepreneurs are creating and testing. It’s creating an advertising frenzy.
And yet, not so new – Gen Xer’s and Y’ers have been showing off to each other for almost 2 years. (that’s those of you who are under 40!)
Where has big business been?
Who knows – they definitely weren’t communicating with their clients. And definitely not building rapport with prospective web visitors as much they hoped to. The question is: “Can you really get more business using blogs?
What You Haven’t Been Doing With Blogs Might Be Costing You Missed Opportunity.
From what I’ve researched and tested, yes and yes. Your content and you get more exposure. Here’s how.
Blogs are more than traditional web sites. Blogs have the potential to really show who and what you know. If you’re not afraid of sharing nitty gritty opinions and your point-of-view – a blog is the ticket to build relationships.
For example, one of the biggest and richest marketing experts, Clayton Makepeace has shifted his entire web presence into a blog style site. (http://www.makepeacetotalpackage.com/) This is one I regard as effective and emulate.
Now here’s another style. Tina Roth Eisenberg, says her blog (http://www.swiss-miss.com/) is her best promotional tool, though that was not her intention when she started it.
Edmontonian, Mari-Lyn Hudson has been writing articles in her blog for some time. May-Lyn works a step ahead in her business. She’s a great source of small business information any one of us could use. Check her Marketing section at (http://www.heartatworkonline.org/)
Of course there are those that aren’t business oriented. Check out Christina’s site. (www.knitsabeautifullife.com/blog) Just as a side, she also builds web and blog sites. Check her out at (http://www.itfactordesigns.com/)
You’ve probably noticed as you look at these blog sites that you can add pictures or words – the big gift here is this. Blogs generate more attention because your blog site content changes – here’s the trick – spiders love change!
Makes sense, doesn’t it?
Here’s another gift. Founded in February 2005 by Elisa Camahort, Jory Des Jardins and Lisa Stone, http://www.blogher.org/ was created by these women as opportunities for women bloggers to pursue exposure, education, community and economic empowerment. The BlogHer Community Web’s number one guide to blogs by women, where 60+ editors write guides to the hottest blogging by women in 20+ popular topics.
Network, BlogHer’s first qualified, targeted environment for contextual advertising showcasing more than 160 women bloggers across multiple verticals, including parenting, food and lifestyle.
And not only do these women support business blogging, they want you to advertise further. Check the other site they own, http://blogherads.com/.
With blogs, you post your expertise as articles or comments. Invite others to contribute tips or ideas. This way you both win, Blog spiders give you online exposure particularly when your credentials and web sites are listed on someone else’s domain.
Cool, isn’t it?
So guess what? I of course am always looking for guests to post on the blog. So if you have tips or ideas, just send me your article. If accepted, I will post it as my featured article. Of course, comment at the end into the blog. Online exposure makes good sense….
Until next time, great job today!
Patricia
